Fair
Trade Coffee Growing
Over half of the world's coffee is produced on small family farms with
only a few acres of coffee trees. Fair Trade certification provides a
way for these farmers to increase their incomes by helping them organize
into cooperatives that link them directly to coffee importers. Fair Trade
farmers are guaranteed a premium over the prevailing price paid for coffee
on the international market. In addition, Fair Trade improves farmers'
economic stability by encouraging importers to extend financial credit
to cooperatives and develop long-term trading relationships.
HappyRock
Coffee believes strongly in supporting sustainable coffee production,
both environmentally and socially. We proudly offer Fair Trade and Organic
shade grown coffees.
About our Coffee
When
it comes to sourcing our green coffee, we only buy & roast organically
grown coffee. We do our part to support farmers by buying Fair Trade,
co-operatively grown or we work with other independent micro-roasters
to get direct trade coffees. Our goal is to put farmers first. When
it comes to roasting, we see no reason to compete with other independent
micro-roasters. The only competition we see is corporate vs. independent.
We specialize in roasts that are not burnt. Our variatials (single origin
coffees) are done at a cuppers light roast while our blends range from
light to vienna to traditional italian dark to dark french, as well
as a median blend and a viennese blend. We always have a darn fine decaffe
in stock as well.
